1 lb dried Great Northern beans
1 lb beef or lamb, cubed
2 beef bouillon cubes
3 tbs butter
2 tbs tomato paste
1 large onion chopped
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbs dried mint
Salt, pepper, allspice and cumin to taste

Soak beans overnight. Brown meat and onion and seasoning in butter. Combine drained beans and meat in a pot. Cover with water and add tomato paste and bouillon. Bring to boil, cover and simmer gently for 2 hours, adding water as necessary, until beans are cooked and sauce is thickened. Lightly brown garlic and mint in butter and add.
