3/4 c oleo (crisco)
1 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2.5 c sifted sugar
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Sift dry ingredients. Gradually add to shortening mixture. Blend thoroughly. Chill several hours or overnight. Fill cookie press. Form cookies on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes. When slightly cooled remove from pan. May be decorated before or after baking with colored sugar or small candies.
